The MBD Race-Tour crankshaft is probably the best crankshaft ever made for a Lambretta (and it is unlikely a better crankshaft will ever be made).

There is over 20 years of testing and development to produce these top quality crankshafts.

Our crankshafts use Japanese Road-Race type con rods and full race spec big end bearings with a slightly longer con rod length of 110mm.

They come from a bike that revs well over 10,000rpm and gives 50+ horse power, well within any Lambrettas potential.

The longer con rod gives an advantage to set up your Lambretta engine using our variable thickness cylinder base packing plates allowing adjustment to cylinder port timings and cylinder head clearances making for a better more efficient powerful engine.

The advantages of the MBD Race-Tour crankshafts are:

  1. A full circle, high compression balanced crankshaft giving a smoother more powerful engine.

  2. Con rod and bearing well within any power outputs of a Lambretta, Road or Race.

  3. Tighter assembly clearances preventing crankshaft twist.

  4. This crank has a standard stroke of 58mm and comes with the best small end bearing available.

Development History

  • Mark Broadhurst has been at the forefront of uprated crankshaft development from 1985.
  • He has invented and made every known con rod conversion.
  • These modified crankshafts include Innocenti, MDP, MEC, Omega, Mazzucelli, SIL, Evergreen and AF.
  • This long period of development found problems with every one of these crankshafts to where we needed a more reliable product.
  • It wasn't until SIL and Italian manufacturers moved from 22.9mm crank pins to 22mm crank pins that other dealers copied our ideas.
  • The amount of work load and never ending crank web failures forced us to design our own Race-Tour crankshafts.

Reasons to Buy

  • Balanced.
  • Lighter.
  • Precision made.
  • Using Japanese con rods and racing bearings.
  • Longer con rods mean more versatility when setting port timings and squish clearances.

Tips

  • Oil the big end bearing, shims and seal surfaces before fitting.
  • Spin the crankshaft as you pull it into the drive side bearing.
  • Once fitted turn the crank to make sure it spins free.
  • Make sure there is more than .025" clearance between crank webs and casings.
  • We sell 0.5 and 1.0mm mag gaskets to obtain clearance.

1 Alessandro on 10 Sep 2008 asked "I have a question about "Crankshaft 58x110mm Gp full circle race with small end MBD":Hi Mark, how does it work with a small block mugello 186?Regars,Alex"

Mark replied:

It should work perfect, you will need a cylinder packing plate as the con rod is 110mm longer that standard but works perfect.
